Empowering you with compassionate, evidence-based, trauma-informed support for your wellness journey

Contact Me

Hi, I'm Kathleen.

I'm a licensed independent social worker with supervision designation who supports adults in navigating life's challenges and living life more authentically.

I work with individuals facing life transitions, anxiety, depression, caregiver stress (professional and family), parenting challenges, and chronic illness and pain. I hold a Master's degree in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University and an undergraduate degree in Psychology with a concentration in Special Education from the University of Virginia.

With 20+ years of experience, I've had the privilege of working with adults, adolescents, and children in private practice, community mental health services, schools, and caregiver support groups. I have passionately served as an author, faculty member, and mental health advocate with the American Academy of Pediatrics. I'm also a wife, mom, daughter, friend, and caregiver who believes deeply in lifelong learning, the interconnection of mind, body, and spirit, and the healing power of safe, supportive relationships.

I'm so glad you're here.

"The only way out is through…"

And the best way through is together.

FAQs

How do I know if therapy is right for me?
I'm a firm believer that we all can benefit from greater self-awareness and more adaptive ways of navigating what life brings, to help live our lives with purpose, authenticity, and joy.

If you're navigating emotional challenges, major life transitions, caregiving stress, or feeling overwhelmed and wanting to strengthen your well-being, therapy can provide especially valuable tools and support for growth and healing.

Whether you're new to therapy or have been in therapy for years, it's natural to have questions or concerns. I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to discuss your needs and determine if my approach aligns with your goals. Feel free to reach out!
Why Online Therapy?
Online therapy increases access to care. For those with busy lives, caregiving responsibilities, or mobility limitations, online therapy increases access to routine professional support.

Online therapy offers the convenience of meeting from a location of your choosing, reduces travel time and costs, increases flexibility in scheduling appointments, and eliminates geographical constraints.

Rest assured that attuned, connected therapeutic relationships CAN and DO occur through online therapy.

If you are new to, or at all uncomfortable with, using online health platforms, please reach out with questions. I can help walk you through it.
What can I expect during my first therapy session?
During your first session, we'll explore what brings you to therapy, clarify your goals, and address any questions you may have about the process. It's an opportunity for us to connect and see whether working together feels like a good fit.
How often should I attend therapy sessions and for how long?
The frequency of therapy sessions and length of treatment depends on individual needs and goals. During your initial consultations, we'll work together to develop a personalized treatment plan that includes a recommended session frequency based on your specific needs and circumstances.

Typically, I recommend starting with regular sessions either weekly or every other week. As your needs evolve, we can adjust the schedule—from periodic check-ins to more frequent support during challenging times.
What are your fees for service and is insurance accepted?
I am an out-of-network provider and do not bill insurance directly, in order to provide personalized, high-quality care without the constraints of insurance plans.

Individual sessions are $150 per session.

I believe in supporting access to quality care and offer a limited number of sliding-scale slots based on eligibility. I am also happy to provide superbills for those seeking out-of-network reimbursement.

Please reach out with any questions.
What form of payment do you accept?
I accept private payment by credit card, check, HSA.
